Debunking Three Common Myths About Eggs

For a long time, eggs were regarded as cholesterol-laden and linked to heart disease due to their high content. However, recent research has overturned this belief, establishing that no correlation exists between egg consumption and cardiovascular health issues.

Eggs are an excellent dietary choice offering a wealth of nutrients in just 70 calories per large egg - a complete protein packed with over twenty beneficial elements! They are particularly important for brn development in infants and toddlers through their high choline content. Moreover, eggs supply essential vitamins like D and B12, as well as carotenoids that promote eye health.

Here we address three common misconceptions about this versatile food:

Eggs Are Boring

While traditional methods such as frying or scrambling offer a classic appeal to eggs, they are far from monotonous. Eggs can be incorporated into an infinite variety of recipes like omelets, burritos, atop toast, breakfast casseroles, burger toppings, and even potato dishes. However, it is crucial not to serve undercooked eggs, particularly to at-risk groups including children, older adults, or immunocompromised individuals.

White versus Brown Shelled Eggs

The nutritional value of all eggsregardless of shell coloris remarkably similar. Shell color is indicative of the breed of poultry rather than a difference in nutritional content. Most commonly consumed are white and brown eggs, but blue-green and other shades of brown are also avlable.

Eggs Must Be Thrown Out After Expiration

It's recommed to buy eggs before their sell-by date. Yet, once they arrive home refrigerated, you can ext the storage by up to three to five weeks beyond this mark the sell-by date will likely expire during that time. Quality may degrade if stored longer than advised. If an egg floats in water, it suggests old age but may still be safe for use. For instance, using older eggs in baking might slightly affect the rise of a cake.
